Last week we came together at Two Bridges Hotel, Dartmoor, to celebrate an important milestone – the launch of the Dartmoor Vision Book and accompanying visual illustrations. These mark the culmination of a Dartmoor-wide visioning consultation exercise, in partnership with the Duchy of Cornwall.
Facilitated by Digg & Co, an ecological design practice, in-depth consultation sessions took place over a course of several weeks at the end of last year, with a wide range of voices from across Dartmoor – including farmers, commoners, local residents, conservation organisations, and advisory bodies. These sessions have helped to shape a collective vision for Dartmoor, working towards a landscape that works for everyone who lives in, works, or visits the area.
As part of the consultation, draft illustrations were created to visually represent the themes emerging from the discussions. Stakeholders then came back together to give feedback, ensuring the visuals reflected key themes and general matters stakeholders cared about.
The final result has been the creation of three Dartmoor landscape typology visuals and an illustrated book setting out the key principles and research underpinning it. This shared Vision will guide our work going forward, helping to shape the land management plans that will form the Central Dartmoor Landscape Recovery scheme.
You can view the resulting visuals and read the full Vision E-book on our new website. We encourage you to read, use, and share them.
